A corporate headquarter, also called a 'corporate office' or 'head office' is a central location where the executive teams of a company work on core operations. Executives and other staff make operational decisions in a corporate headquarters (HQ).

Departments that serve the corporation, like communications, human resources, legal, and accounting are included in HQ. The executive team of a company also works in this location for simplified communication and collaboration. HQ location of a company is selected strategically with the intention of finding a site with the best infrastructure, resources, and talent. However, all companies will not have a physical HQ. Some may work virtually.

Space management software is used by companies to ensure their executives and supervisors at the head office can manage the workspace with ease.

It costs more to build a new corporate headquarters, or even repurpose an old one than maintaining a completely virtual existence. More opportunities for connection, improved collaboration, a chance to establish company culture, ability to keep tabs on the pulse of organization, improved employee well-being and facilitation of training are benefits of corporate headquarters.

Listening to employees, thinking outside the box, investing in the community, including a social center, aligning decor choices with branding, thinking green and be agile are some best practices for planning and operating a corporate HQ .
